The Indian Army's aviation corps plans to replace its fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters with indigenously built ones within the next 10-12 years. The army is exploring options like leasing helicopters temporarily and then acquiring them from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. "For the replacement of Cheetah and Chetaks in Army Aviation, a two-pronged approach has been adopted.
